Cosmetic Bifocal Contacts

Colored bifocal contacts

Initially used only by movie and TV stars, colored contacts are now a great and economical way of changing your look and experimenting with various eye colors. Prescription cosmetic contact lenses have blurred the border between beauty and science.

Until recently, only patients with either long distance vision problems or near vision problems — not both — were able to find cosmetic contact lenses that also carried a prescription that corrected their vision. With the development of many bifocal contact lenses, patients needing adjustments for both long distance vision and near vision can now enjoy the comfort of better vision as well as the beauty benefit of changing one’s eye color.

Cosmetic bifocal contacts come in the same types as regular bifocal contacts. You can choose between disposable contact lenses, longer wear ones, or lenses made out of rigid materials or soft materials. Since bifocal contacts come in different designs, you need to talk to your ophthalmologist and see which bifocal contacts can also be colored and which ones would be the best fit for you. Once you have established which type of bifocal contact you would need, you should research the various types of colored contact lenses that are available.

Types of colored contacts

There are three types of colored lenses available.
Visibility tinted lenses – these are lightly tinted contacts, allowing them to be easier to find if they are dropped, but they will not have any impact on the color of your eyes.

Enhancement tinted lenses – these contacts enhance your natural color either by bringing in more light and making your eyes brighter, or they can make your natural color more prominent by adding a slightly darker tint.

Color tinted lenses – these are the colored lenses that completely change the color of your eyes. Their center is transparent allowing your vision to still be accurate

Once you have your bifocal contacts prescription, you can go ahead and order your contacts online and browse through all the options available for you.
